*EVERY CHILD DESERVES PROTECTION* 🙏🏻
Today is Children’s Day, While many families are celebrating with pictures, outings and gratitude, conversations online this period have also reminded us that child and women’s safety remains a top priority.
We have all seen difficult news and conversations circulating, reports of children going missing, families searching for loved ones, and stories of girls and women experiencing violence. Some stories make headlines and trend but many others never reach the public. Behind every story is somebody’s child, somebody’s sister, somebody’s future. 😭
*TODAY'S TOPIC* is not to create fear. It is to remind us that care, awareness, prayer and precautions matter. We live in a country school children are kidnapped, teachers are k^lled, girls are r^ped and unalived. 💔
*A YOUNG CHILD,* teenager, woman, all needs protection. Growing older should not mean carrying danger alone.
Today, as mothers, women, sisters and caregivers, maybe this is a good time to ask ourselves:
How do we build safer homes, safer conversations and safer communities? 🥹
*LESSONS:*
1: Teach children age-appropriate safety and confidence to speak up
2: Let trusted people know where you are when possible
3: Encourage children and young people to communicate without fear
4: Pay attention to changes in behaviour, silence or withdrawal
5: Build communities or relationships where you check in on one another.
6: Take instincts seriously and seek help early when something feels wrong
7: Support survivors with compassion, not blame. 😢
We often say God protects us and many of us believe that deeply. At the same time, wisdom, awareness, community support and practical safety habits also matter.
May we continue to raise children who feel safe, heard and supported. May we never become so used to difficult news that we stop caring for one another. May God protect us from all evils. 🙏🏽
